RIVER FALLS, WI, JANUARY 3, 2007 – The Kinnickinnic River Land Trust (KRLT) announced plans today for “Corks, Cuisine and Conservation” –a first annual membership drive and fundraising event at The Bayport Cookery in Bayport MN. The dinner is scheduled for January 23, 2007 and will feature delicious sustainable foods, biodynamic wines and a silent auction of one-of-a-kind items.
A one-night-only event, “Corks, Cuisine and Conservation” will feature a five-course menu created by award winning Chef/Owner Jim Kyndberg of The Bayport Cookery. The evening will also showcase Ray Zemke of The Cellars, who will discuss his distinct wine pairings for each course of Chef Kyndberg’s fantastic menu. Throughout the evening, attendees will have the exciting opportunity to bid on unique silent auction items provided by local artisans and businesses including guided river trips, a handmade bamboo fishing rod and original works of art.
“Corks, Cuisine and Conservation” was developed with a vision to fundraise for land protection efforts, create new KRLT memberships, as well as to increase awareness about the Kinnickinnic River, its watershed and the critical work of the KRLT. Proceeds from the event will benefit the ongoing work of the KRLT.
“The Board, Staff and members of the KRLT are thrilled to introduce “Corks, Cuisine and Conservation” to our list of annual events,” said Eric Forward, Natural Resources/Land Project Manager for the KRLT. “We know that the highly regarded reputations of The Bayport Cookery and The Cellars, along with the caring spirit of community, will make this festive event a huge success. We hope to introduce ourselves to many new members during the evening and in doing so, we know we can further the reach of the KRLT’s important mission.”
Patrons are encouraged to make reservations early for the one-seating-only event. Dining begins at 6:30pm and will conclude at 9pm. The evening’s cost is $125 per person for food and beverages, with tax and gratuity extra. A portion of the ticket cost is tax deductible. Seating is limited; to make reservations, contact The Bayport Cookery at 651-430-1066. Reservations are not refundable for this charity event.

About the Kinnickinnic River Land Trust (KRLT)
The Kinnickinnic River Land Trust, based in River Falls, WI, is a non-profit, member-driven private conservation organization. Founded in 1993 by concerned landowners and community leaders, the KRLT works with a volunteer board of directors to protect the Kinnickinnic River watershed, which is recognized as an “Outstanding Resource Water” by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The Kinnickinnic River is a Class One trout stream and is nationally recognized as one of the finest trout streams in the Midwest, home to naturally reproducing Brown and Brook trout. The watershed is also home to over 40 endangered, threatened or special concern plants, animals and insects. The KRLT uses a broad range of tools to conserve the river and its watershed, including conservation easements, buying land, education and public access. To date, the KRLT has permanently protected over 1,750 acres and over 6.5 miles of shoreline for permanent public access. Learn more about the invaluable work of the KRLT at www.kinniriver.org.
