River Clean-Up
We organize an annual river clean-up day on the river in the Spring before the foliage gets too thick. Children and adults participate and it makes a wonderful family and group activity. Our river cleanup is part of the National River Clean-up week. Watch the Kinni Keeper for the next scheduled clean-up day.
Adopt-A-Highway
The KRLT has adopted 3 miles of county Road F for roadside cleanup - from County M to County FF in Pierce county–down through the canyon near the State Park. Two times a year volunteers help to pick up litter.
Advocacy Through Broad Community Participation
We continue to monitor water quality and flow in cooperation with the Kiap-TU-Wish Chapter of Trout Unlimited, the United States Geological Survey, the City of River Falls, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering.
We, along with Kiap-TU-Wish, worked with the City of River Falls to include the protection of the Kinni in the City of River Falls’ 2005 Comprehensive Plan.
We continue to promote land and water conservation through the work of land trusts by joining forces with Gathering Waters (the Wisconsin statewide land trust organization) and the Land Trust Alliance (the national land trust organization).
